Public housing maintenance focus: City visits Rusoord Cottages

The City’s Public Housing maintenance teams visited the Rustoord Cottages rental complex to carry out important maintenance and upgrades. The City is investing in its rental units across the city and is earmarking R1,2 billion into its affordable housing over the next three years. Read more below.
‘By placing a large focus in the investment of our affordable housing, we aim to improve the quality of life of our residents so that we create safer and more comfortable living spaces. Our maintenance days across the city are examples of our ongoing efforts to create a caring and inclusive community for all residents. We are pleased to have completed a number of service requests at the Rustoord cottages and we will be prioritising all remaining work at the units.
‘Not only did we have the opportunity to do repairs and maintenance, but we were able to spend time and engage with our elderly residents. Our maintenance teams are making their way to more City CRUs in the coming days and we encourage residents to contact us for their maintenance needs and any concerns,’ said Councillor Pophaim.
Rustoord maintenance focussed on:
• Repairing roofs, windows and doors
• Attending to plumbing and electrical service requests
• Maintaining gardens and common areas
